This course is more than a technique—it's an invitation to slow down and truly see. As we draw and paint, we not only observe shapes and colors, but also ourselves. The act of looking deeply becomes a mirror, encouraging patience, focus, and self-acceptance. Over time, this practice quiets self-doubt, revealing a more authentic creative voice. Growth comes not from rushing toward mastery, but from being present in the process.

What is Painting with Stillness?
This course, in oil painting, is for all exerpience levels and provides fundamental skill development in painting as a mindfulness practice. The two goals of technical mastery and present-moment awareness strengthen, reinforce, and support each other as our painting practice develops and deepens. We learn how painting skills can help us to slow down, bring us into the moment, and how being present strengthens our ability to
paint.

Hear From Our Students
"I am grateful to have learned how to draw with Jordan. It not only gave me the foundation and confidence to explore art, but it actually changed how I see the world. His mix of giving you just as much as you can hear, letting you grapple and absorb and then giving you the next insight is what all effective teachers do. Thank you, Jordan. I am looking forward to exploring painting with you in 2025."

"Jordan has taught me to slow down and really see what I am painting, which has given me a whole new perspective on what’s important to consider when I paint!"
Diana Roth
"My search for a painting teacher led me to several different studios before I finally discovered Jordan and his Foundations course. I had no previous experience with oils but Jordan's class provided a clear, step by step introduction. The progression from pencil
to black and white oils, to a limited palette plus Jordan's hands on teaching gave me confidence as I progressed. I have since taken the course several more times and the disciplined approach to painting never fails to provide challenges and lessons!"
Lina Beckley
"Jordan's Foundation class was fundamental to my growth as an artist. He teaches the basics of value, color, shape, and proportion in a supportive and non-dogmatic manner that meets each artist where they are in their practice and skill level. I particularly valued his insightful commentary on the diverse artists he introduced to demonstrate teaching topics and to just appreciation for their work."
